The 29-year-old man was stabbed during a cell phone robbery attempt near Penn Station Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

CHELSEA, NY - A male migrant was stabbed during a cell phone robbery attempt near Penn Station Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The man, 29, was attacked near Eighth Avenue and West 31st Street about 1:45 p.m., police said.
His mugger stabbed him in the back and slashed his arm in the struggle, police said.

Medics transported the wounded man to Bellevue Hospital where he is expected to recover, police said.
The suspect is described as a man in a black shirt, blue jeans and a multicolored backpack. He fled on foot westbound on 31st Street after the stabbing, police said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
