Moped-Riding Thieves In Chelsea Flee With Woman's Purse: NYPD
The purse grab took place midday Sunday near FIT, police said.

CHELSEA, NY - A 44-year-old woman saw her purse snatched from under her nose as she was walking in Chelsea Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The grab took place about 1:55 p.m. in front of 244 West 29 Street when the two thieves drove by on a single moped and grabbed the purse, police said.
The suspects fled the location westbound on West 29 street and then southbound on Seventh Avenue, police said. No injuries were reported and no weapons were displayed.

The total value of the purse and its contents were not immediately available.
As of Tuesday, New York City has 37,629 reported grand larceny incidents so far in 2023, according to city data. That's down about 3 percent from the same time the previous year.

In the 10th precinct where the incident took place, police have seen 570 grand larceny incidents so far in 2023. That’s compared to 533 reported this time last year.
