New Italian Eatery In Chelsea Awarded 2 Michelin Stars
Al Coro, which opened a few months ago, was just one of two NYC restaurants to receive two Michelin stars for the first time.

CHELSEA, NY — Out of the 19 restaurants to recently receive at least one Michelin star for the first time in New York City, an Italian eatery in Chelsea was one of just two to receive two stars.
Al Coro, located at 85 10th Ave., opened in the beginning of summer with an incredible amount of buzz in the former home of the scandal-charred Del Posto.
Here's what the Michelin Guide had to say about awarding Al Coro two stars on Thursday.

"Chef Melissa Rodriguez is back at this long-awaited spot," the Michelin Guide wrote. "The dining room sets the stage for a kitchen that dances behind the curtain, reveling in the unexpected and sidestepping tradition for a fixed menu of modern Italian dishes with subtle nods to New York."
Rodriguez was also the last head chef at Del Posto.

Al Coro serves up pre-fixed menus that include a spread of small bites, an anti pasta, a duo of pastas, main dishes, and a wave of sweets. It's seven course menu costs $245 a person and its five course version is $195, according to its website.
The dishes change every six weeks, and the restaurant purposely does not publicize them, but does offer sneak peaks on its Instagram from time to time.
There is live music every night and seating for groups is up to 10 people in the main dining room.
Saga in the Financial District was the other New York City restaurant to receive two Michelin stars for the first time. The two eateries now join a coveted list of just 12 New York City restaurants that have two Michelin stars.
