The Red Cat In Chelsea Will Close After Nearly 20 Years: Report

Owner and chef Jimmy Bradley is calling it quits after nearly two decades on 10th Avenue.

CHELSEA, NY — Chelsea neighborhood joint The Red Cat is closing its doors for good come the end of December after nearly 20 years of serving grub and good times on Tenth Avenue, owner and chef Jimmy Bradley told The New York Times.

Bradley first opened the bistro with restaurateur Danny Abrams in 1999 back when Chelsea had a sparse art scene and no High Line to attract droves of tourists.

Now some two decades later he's closing up shop —not due to a rent hike or because the eatery is struggling to make ends meet, but because Bradley is simply ready for something new.
