West Side Robber Targets Trio Of Chase Banks: NYPD

The West Side thief has robbed three Chase Banks within a week, police said.

CHELSEA, NY — A bank robber raided three West Side banks within a week, police said.

Authorities are searching for the brazen thief who has robbed three Chase banks in Chelsea, Midtown and the Upper West Side.

The capers began on Nov. 14 when the man, dressed in a black coat, baseball cap and sunglasses, approached the teller of an Eighth Avenue bank between W. 15th and 16th streets, and slid over a note demanding cash, police said.

The terrified teller compiled and handed over an undetermined amount of money.

He hit another Chase Bank two days later on Nov. 16, this time on Eighth Avenue near W. 58th Street. He displayed a note demanding money and made off with $1,000 in cash, police said.

The robber's latest heist was in the Upper West Side on Nov. 19 at yet another Chase Bank, this one on Broadway near 96th street, police said. The suspect passed a note seeking cash to a teller and fled with an unknown amount of money, said cops.

Authorities describe the robber as 30 to 40-years-old, six-feet tall and roughly 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark sunglasses, a black baseball cap, a black coat and black gloves.
