LI Family Man Killed In Crash; GoFundMe Made: 'He Was Taken From Us'

Matthew Conte, a husband and the father of two daughters, was struck by a car while jogging on Monday.

COMMACK, NY — A fundraiser was made on behalf of a Commack family man who was fatally struck by a car on Monday.

Matthew Conte, 36, of Commack, was hit by a car on Scholar Lane, at the intersection of Shaker Ridge Lane, at 6:10 p.m. Monday, Suffolk police said. No charges were brought against the driver, a 31-year-old Commack woman, police said.

Taylor Alves, Conte's cousin, organized a GoFundMe on Tuesday after her family suffered the "unimaginable loss." The fundraiser has raised nearly $50,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
