On September 28th, a small group of scouts from Commack Troop 125 took a day trip to visit the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, NY. The museum offers visitors a powerful opportunity to connect with history and honor the legacy of those who served. Surrounded by authentic tanks, military vehicles, and immersive exhibits, scouts were able to learn about the bravery and resilience of American soldiers across generations. Through a self-guided tour and the support of volunteer staff, they gained insight into the sacrifices these men and women made—risking their lives to defend freedom and uphold values that continue to shape a better world. It's a hands-on experience that fosters respect, patriotism, and a deeper understanding of the cost of peace.
Scouting offers a unique opportunity for youth participants to learn life skills, understand the importance of community, and form lifelong bonds with fellow scouts. Any child (boys or girl) as young as 11 years old can join a Scouts BSA troop, regardless of prior experience.
