Commack Teams Dominate Suffolk Math Competition

Middle School teams snagged first and second place in county-wide math competition.

Two math teams from won first and second place in the Suffolk County Math Teachers Association competition.

Students Jessy Lin and Scott Massa earned the top spot in the annual countywide competition, while Hunter Hyams and Andrew Kim landed right behind them in second place.

In the competition, each student completes a series of five questions. Students are timed and have between two and five minutes to answer depending on the difficulty of the question. Each students receive an indivdual score, which is then combined with their teammates to determine the team score.

Commack math teacher Harry Cuff coached the teams throughout the season, which consisted of five meets.

In light of the acheivements, the teams were honored at the Suffolk County Math Teachers Association Award Ceremony.
