Commack's Gurwin Assisted Living Community Hosts Caregiver Forum

COMMACK, NY — Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences, an assisted living community in Commack, hosted a lecture on caring for aging loved ones by Fern Pessin, according to a news release.

Pessin authored "Can We Talk?," "I'll Be Right There," and "The Caregiver Gap Year." Pessin’s first-hand perspective provided insightful tips for family caregivers on the complexities of caregiving and family dynamics.

Drawing from personal experience and research, Pessin delved into the emotional and practical aspects of caregiving, sharing both the challenges and rewards.

Gurwin residents and family caregivers engaged in a Q&A session, discussed their own experiences and gained new perspectives on managing the caregiver relationship. Pessin highlighted the importance of communication, self-care and finding balance, inspiring attendees to feel better equipped to manage the daily challenges of caregiving.

"We were honored to have Fern Pessin speak at our community," said Joel Gali, vice president and administrator of Gurwin Assisted Living, in a news release. "Her understanding of the caregiver's role and the importance of communication within families resonated with our guests, many of whom share similar journeys. It was a meaningful presentation for everyone involved."
