EMS Lieutenant To Be Laid To Rest; Road Closures Coming To Commack
Services for Alison Russo-Elling, who was stabbed in Queens, are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
COMMACK, NY — Alison Russo-Elling, 61, is set to be laid to rest in Commack on Monday and Tuesday.
Russo-Elling was a 24-year FDNY EMS veteran and a long-time member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. Russo-Elling, who served as a first responder in the Sept. 11 attacks, was stabbed to death on Thursday steps from her Astoria work station, the NYPD said.
The wake for Russo-Elling is set to be held at Commack Abbey, at 96 Commack Road, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police advised drivers of potential road closures and traffic delays because of the memorial services and suggested they find alternate routes.
"She was a dedicated provider and outstanding member, serving on several committees and giving her time wherever it was needed at Huntington Community," the Huntington Community First Aid Squad wrote. "Alison would have celebrated 30 years of service at Huntington Community First Aid Squad in November of this year."

She was loved by "so many" in the first aid squad.
"She will be dearly missed by everyone, but her legacy will live within our hearts forever," the squad wrote. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this difficult time."
