First New York Famous Toastery Set to Debut in September

Commack residents to get first taste of the restaurant recognized by many as "one of the founders of the artisanal brunch"

Famous Toastery, a fast growing name in the better breakfast category, will soon open its doors to its first New York location at 10-2020 East Jericho Turnpike in Commack. Founded in North Carolina by two Long Island childhood friends in 2005, Famous Toastery, which CNBC cited as a “hot restaurant franchise,” has grown to become an award-winning restaurant known for its always fresh, made-to-order, signature dishes combining both Northern and Southern fare, and its impeccable “every server is your server” uncommon and winning service concept.

“New York is home to some great breakfast food,” says Robert Maynard, co-founder, Famous Toastery, who grew up in Centereach. “What Famous Toastery offers is only the finest and freshest possible local ingredients, all day, every day. Each dish is made to order and all of our ingredients are prepared that day, on-site; nothing is ever fried because none of our restaurants contain fryers and nothing we serve is processed. When we place maple syrup on the table, we can assure you, it’s real maple syrup. We aspire to a higher level of cuisine.”

The result? Famous Toastery’s menu includes both classics and new takes on classics like the Avocado Benedict baked with two cage-free eggs, topped with spicy and delicate pepper jack cheese and mouth-watering Cajun spices. The Famous Hash boasts house-made corned beef and shredded potatoes topped with two cage-free eggs any style and house made Hollandaise sauce with a side of toast.

Most unique to Famous Toastery and what enables the restaurant’s exceptional service, is its unique “every server is your server” service approach. “From taking orders to bringing the check, and everything in between, each and every one of our servers is here to provide our guests with an exceptional dining experience,” said Brian Burchill, co-founder, Famous Toastery, who also grew up in Centereach, just down the street from Maynard. “Our employees receive special training in order to learn every aspect of the restaurant business. The goal is for all of our employees to rise to the level of service that Famous Toastery guests expect.”

“Robert and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be returning home to our Long Island roots. New York means the world to us and there’s nothing better than serving a fresh, home cooked meal to family and friends,” continued Burchill. Burchill’s parents, Jim and Fran, relocated to North Carolina to help Brian and Robert run their first eatery, with Fran at the cashier and Jim, who is retired from the New York Police Department, washing dishes. Together, along with best friends Brian and Robert, the four helped establish the warm, welcoming, family-oriented culture Famous Toastery has come to be known for. “We want Famous Toastery’s new Commack location to become a community meeting spot for residents – an inviting space for family and friends.”

The new Famous Toastery will mark its opening with a fundraiser to benefit Responders Remembered for the opening of the 9/11 Responders Remembered Park. A Long Island-based charitable organization dedicated to supporting 9/11 first responders and their families, the two-day fundraiser is dedicated to Robert Maynard’s father, who is a current Smithtown resident, former lieutenant of the FDNY and 9/11 first responder. The fundraiser, where 100 percent of sales will be donated, is open to the public and will take place in August.

Childhood friends, Burchill and Maynard opened their first breakfast eatery in 2005 in Huntersville, North Carolina, which today includes 32 locations across the country. A second New York location is planned for the East End, and then others, across Long Island. Famous Toastery in Commack is located in the Mayfair Shopping Center and is 3,750 square feet with a warm and inviting “modern farmhouse” interior design. The restaurant seats 125 customers inside with a 35-seat outdoor dining area planned. The restaurant also contains a full bar and will host private parties during the evening hours.

About Famous Toastery

Famous Toastery’s story began in 2005 in Huntersville, N.C. in a small house-turned-restaurant where best friends Brian Burchill and Robert Maynard opened their first breakfast spot. News of their fresh-made breakfasts and fun atmosphere spread. The concept quickly grew to three locations, serving new and loyal clients dishes made from scratch. Never compromising fresh ingredients or amazing service, the demand for Famous Toastery kept growing. To satisfy its family of patrons’ pleas for more locations, Famous Toastery evolved into a franchise in 2013. Dining customers always can expect impeccable service because at Famous Toastery, “every server is your server.” Breaking through the boring casual breakfast segment, Famous Toastery will continue spreading its success to new communities across the U.S.

About 9/11 Responders Remembers Park

On 9/11/01, this great country witnessed its worst terrorist attack ever on American soil. We lost 2,751 innocent lives to senseless violence. During our nation’s darkest hours, the resolve and testament of the American people were tested. From the toxic dust rose heroes; true American Patriots. These were men and women, uniform and non-uniform who risked their lives without prejudice to ensure the safety of our nation. Since that dark day in history, hundreds and soon to be thousands have lost their lives to 9/11 related illnesses; giants amongst heroes taken from us too soon. The 9/11 Responders Remembered Park, Inc. is being dedicated to those brave souls to show their loved ones and families that their heroic actions will never be forgotten. Etched in stone, their names will always be remembered, their courageous actions imprinted on our hearts forever.
