Gurwin Assisted Living Residents Debut Artwork At Commack Library: Photo Slideshow

Gurwin artists between ages 79 and 96 shared their original art at a gallery reception. "We are very proud," Gurwin CEO Stuart Almer said.

COMMACK, NY — Residents, family members and staff of Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences assisted living community gathered at the Commack Public Library to celebrate the grand opening of the Gurwin Assisted Living Resident Art Show, Gurwin announced in a news release.

From still life to seascapes, the original artwork featured in the first-ever art gallery event was a product of months-long classes guided by Gurwin’s art therapists. Ranging in age from 79 to 96, the Gurwin artists experimented in different mediums and techniques, culminating in gallery-worthy pieces revealed at the library art show.

"We are very proud of the enriching programs led by our talented art team," said Stuart B. Almer, president and CEO of Gurwin Healthcare System, via release. "While some of our residents are lifelong painters, others never picked up a paint brush before coming to Gurwin. We admire their creativity and are so pleased to have their work displayed at the Commack Library."
