Pedestrian Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash

The man, 55, was crossing the roadway when he was struck by an SUV, police say.

COMMACK, NY — A pedestrian was critically injured in a car crash on Monday night in Commack, Suffolk police said.

Dennis Mahoney, 55, of Commack, was crossing the roadway northbound in front of 6079 Jericho Turnpike when he was struck by a westbound 2015 Subaru Crosstrek at 11:15 p.m., police said.

Mahoney was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition.

The Subaru driver, a 61-year-old Northport woman, was not injured, police said.

The SUV was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
