Question of the Day: Will A Property Tax Cap Happen?

Long Island senate delegation putting pressure for the approval of legislation to cap taxes at 2 percent.

The Long Island state senate delegation in the New York State Assembly to approve legislation that would cap property tax increases at two percent.

Earlier this year, senate approved legislation that would cap property tax increases to two percent or at the level of the Consumer Price Index , whichever is less. While Gov. Andrew Cuomo supports this legislation, his fellow Democrats in the Assembly have yet to bring the measure up for a vote.
