UPDATE: Teen Struck, Killed on Northern State Parkway

A teenager was killed after being struck by a car on the Northern State Parkway Sunday night, state police said.

Taylor Ann Cavaliere, 16, of Dix Hills, was hit by a car at about 11:30 p.m. near the Deer park Avenue exit and pronounced dead by a Dix Hills paramedic at the scene of the accident, New York State police said. 

According to police, Cavaliere had attended a party at a friend's house near the scene prior to the accident.

The driver, 31-year-old Mathew Sinclair, of Holbrook, said Cavaliere walked onto the highway in front of his car, police said. Sinclair has not been charged.

New York State police are continuing to investigate the accident and ask any witnesses to call James Chadwick at (631) 231-6389. Calls are confidential.
