2 Charged In Connection With Mail Carrier Key Theft: PD
Two people from Deer Park were arrested in connection with stealing mailbox keys from United States Post Office employees, police say.
DEER PARK, NY — Two people were arrested in connection with stealing United States Postal Service mailbox keys from postal employees, Suffolk County Police said.
Aaron Nelson, 19, of Deer Park, was arrested in front of 24 Hemlock Avenue Thursday evening after Chrisnell Maitre, 19, of Deer Park, was arrested on February 29 in connection with the robbery and attempted robberies of postal carrier keys from postal employees that occurred since October 2023, police said.
According to the investigation, Nelson and Maitre intended to use the stolen keys to access USPS mailboxes.

Both were charged with three counts of third-degree attempted robbery for incidents occurring on Hallock Avenue in Smithtown on February 14, Vernon Place in Smithtown on January 29 and Burlington Boulevard on January 29, police said.
Nelson was also charged with third-degree robbery for robbing a mail carrier of a postal key on Hughes Lane in North Babylon on October 13, 2023, police said.

No one was injured in the robberies. The investigation is continuing.
Nelson was held overnight at the Third Precinct. He is slated to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 31.
