2 Pedestrians Fatally Struck by Cars on Long Island
A tragic Christmas Eve on Long Island.

Two people were struck and killed by cars on Long Island on Christmas Eve, according to police.
The first incident occurred in Middle Island around 8:20 p.m. Suffolk Police say a 46-year-old woman was walking in the roadway on Rocky Point Road, about 600 feet north of Bailey Road, when she was struck by a southbound 2008 Kia sedan at approximately 8:20 p.m. The impact caused the woman to strike a 2005 Dodge sedan that was stopped in the center median.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia, Morning Yancey, 20, of Port Jefferson Station, was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license. She was not injured. The driver of the Dodge, Liam Toman, 20, of Southold, was not injured.

The other crash occurred in Deer Park around 11 p.m. Police say a man was crossing Commack Road, south of Marcus Boulevard, when he was struck by a southbound 2015 GMC. The victim, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the GMC, Daniel Saccoccio, 31, of Deer Park, was not injured.
