ALS Ride For Life Makes a Stop at Marion Vedder, N. Babylon HS

Chris Pendergast cheered on by North Babylon students as he made his way south.

The ALS Ride for Life made two stops in North Babylon on Wednesday morning, starting with North Babylon High School before continuing down Deer Park Avenue to Marion Vedder Elementary.

Throngs of students waving banners of support, clapping cheering helped Ride for Life's Chris Pendergast along his route to Manhattan.

Pendergast, who has been fighting ALS, or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, for over 20 years founded the Ride for Life in 1998 to help raise awareness and money to help find a cure.

After visiting the two North Babylon schools, Pendergast continued south to Babylon Junior-Senior High School.
