Bulldogs Fall To West Islip
North Babylon boys lacrosse team runs into a hot Lions squad losing 20-5.
Through its first six games of the season North Babylon’s boys lacrosse team’s offense has put up some gaudy numbers in winning four of its first six games.
But this past Friday the Bulldogs ran into a stingy West Islip defense — and its strong offense — as the Lions beat its neighbors to the west 20-5 five in a game played at West Islip High School.
With North Babylon averaging 12 goals per game through the first third of the 2012 campaign the Lions put the clamps on the Bulldogs and their top two scorers, Ryan Slane and Connor Slane.

Through West Islip’s first six games the Lions are allowing only four goals per game.
In Friday’s contest, after West Islip (5-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:10 into the game, North Babylon took advantage of an extra-man-up opportunity to tie the score at 1 thanks to a goal from Eddie Bisson.

The Lions would regain control of the contest scoring the game’s next six goals to race out to a 7-1 lead.
Despite being down six goals the Bulldogs continued to fight and scored three consecutive goals — two from Matt Beccaris and one from Ryan Slane — to cut West Islip’s lead to 7-4.
With momentum clearly having shifted to North Babylon, West Islip head coach Scott Craig called a timeout, which seemed to refocus the Lions, who would score four straight goals to take an 11-4 lead to the half.
The second half proved to be all West Islip as the Lions outscored North Babylon 9-1 in the final two quarters.
Up next for the Bulldogs is a game at Sachem North on Tuesday and at home against West Babylon on Thursday.
