Although Deer Park High School has not held Career Day over the past few years, school officials said the decision to reinstitute the program stemmed largely from the new Common Core standards now being used by schools across Long Island.
The new standards continue to focus on math, science, social studies and language arts, but also seek to better prepare students for life after high school, whether individuals choose to go to college or enter the work force.
