Deer Park Schools Budget Session Set for Tuesday

The Deer Park School District will hold a budget planning meeting Tuesday at the district administration office at 7:30 p.m.

The total preliminary budget for next year represents a 1.76 percent budget-to-budget increase, and falls well within the state's mandated tax cap.

Although, the district is currrently faced with the challenge of closing a $2.8 million budget gap. At last week's introductory budget meeting, Superintendent Eva Demyen said "minimal" staff cuts will be necessary in order to meet the cap while maintaining current programs.
