Deer Park Schools, LIPA Team To Reduce Energy Use
New efficiency measures expected to save school district $200K annually.

The Deer Park School District has partnered with the Long Island Power Authority on a program that will reduce the school district’s energy consumption and save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
Recently, LIPA worked with school officials to identify and achieve significant energy efficient upgrades at the district’s eight buildings. The school district is expected to save about $200,000 annually.
Among the new energy efficiency measures implemented are high performance lighting and lighting controls, and vending machine controls.

Through these improvements, LIPA estimates Deer Park schools will save up to 1.127 million kilowatt hours each year and reduce its peak electric demand by an estimated 453 kilowatts. This is the equivalent of removing 107 cars from the road each year.
In addition, the school district received $371,490 in rebates through LIPA’s Efficiency Long Island program, which was used to help offset the cost of the efficiency upgrades.
