DEER PARK, NY — A Deer Park High School student was recently recognized for both his academic and leadership acheivements.

Brett Patrick was recently named a semifinalist in the 2023 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, recognizing his outstanding academic achievements, leadership ability and dedicated community service.

Patrick was one of just 51 Long Island students and 1,157 nationwide to earn semifinalist status, giving him a chance to earn one of 150 Coca-Cola Scholarships worth $20,000 each to be announced this spring.

“I feel very honored to be selected as a semifinalist out of 90,000 applicants,” Patrick said. “I think it was well worth all the service and commitment and time I've contributed to the school and the community.”

According to its website, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school.
"Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities," its description said.
