Deer Park Students Earn Suffolk's Distinguished Youth Award
The program requires students to complete volunteer service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration hours.

DEER PARK, NY — Several Deer Park students are being recognized for their academic achievements by Suffolk County.
Deer Park High School seniors Emily Franciscovich and Dimitra Pavlatos, and freshman Muntazir Mehdi recently received Distinguished Youth Award gold medals from the Suffolk County Legislature.
The three students were honored at a Nov. 22 ceremony.

The Distinguished Youth Award program challenges Suffolk County’s youth to become more involved in civics in their communities and requires 200 hours of volunteer service, 100 hours of personal development, 100 hours of physical fitness and exploration through visits to 15 Suffolk County parks.
This was Franciscovich's and Pavlatos' consecutive year earning this distinction.
