Firefighters Extinguish LI Car Fire On Christmas Eve: Police

The Deer Park Fire Department extinguished a fire on Christmas Eve after it broke out in a Long Island woman's car on Christmas Eve.

DEER PARK, NY — The Deer Park Fire Department was called to the scene of a vehicle engulfed in flames on Long Island on Christmas Eve, fire department officials told Patch.

According to Suffolk County police, a 62-year-old Deer Park woman was driving a 2011 Honda sedan northbound on Commack Road near Grand Boulevard on Dec. 24 around 7 p.m. when the car's engine caught fire.

She exited the car, called 911 and the Deer Park Fire Department responded.

Fire department officials said Chief Vincent Jackson crews 1-4-6 and 1-4-15 arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames.

Police said no injuries were reported.
