Honored Deer Park Resident Receives HS Diploma For 90th Birthday
"We are not just neighbors, we are family."

DEER PARK, NY — After more than 70 years since his high school days, a longtime Deer Park resident can call himself a graduate.

Anthony Fasano, who was celebrated by the Deer Park School District for his 90th birthday, received an honorary high school diploma at a recent board meeting.

Born on November 21, 1932 in Brooklyn, Fasano was a U.S. Army veteran. Due to family and military obligations, he did not have the opportunity to finish high school and obtain his
diploma, the district said.
Fasano worked for the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation for several decades, as well as Republic Airport in East Farmingdale, before retiring.

When asked during the presentation if he felt he was missing anything from Deer Park, Fasano replied: “Nothing! This is the greatest town.”
With his family present, He was presented the honorary diploma by Superintendent James Cummings.
“It was a privilege to be able to do something special for this family and for a man who has given so much to this community and our country,” Cummings said.
Fasano’s five children are all Deer Park High School graduates, as are eight of his 11 grandchildren, and one of his great-grandchildren still resides in the district.
“I would like to thank everyone in this town and Deer Park Schools for making my 90th birthday so memorable,” Fasano said. “Deer Park is the biggest little town. I’ve lived here most of my adult life, and here we are not just neighbors, we are family.”
