LI Maritime Student Injured In Maine Crash That Left 4 Dead

Joshua Goncalves-Radding, 20, of Long Island, was the driver in a crash that left four dead and injured three Saturday, state police said.

NORTH BABYLON, NY —A North Babylon resident was injured in a deadly crash in Maine that left four Maine Maritime Academy students dead and injured two others, Maine State police said.

Joshua Goncalves-Radding, 20, an academy student, was driving a 2013 Range Rover around 2 a.m. Saturday in the small town of Castine, Maine, when the car crashed into a tree and burst into flames.

Four passengers who were also students all died, police said. They were identified as Brian Kenealy, 20, of York, Maine; Chase Fossett, 21, of Gardiner, Maine; Luke Simpson, 22, of Rockport, Massachusetts; and Riley Ignacio-Cameron, 20, of Aquinnah, Massachusetts.

Goncalves-Radding and two other students were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

"Our community is grieving for these young lives and for their families," Jerry S. Paul, Maine Maritime Academy President said in a statement. "While we have lost beloved members of our student body, tonight there are four families who have lost their children."

Maine State police are currently investigating the accident.
