Lidl Supermarket To Open Deer Park Store In Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The first 100 customers will receive a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each.

DEER PARK, NY — A German supermarket chain will soon open in Deer Park.

Lidl, which already has 21 store on Long Island, will officially open its new location on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 450 Commack Road.

The company announced on Monday that it will hold several events next week, in celebration of the opening.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Lidl will host an open house at the Deer Park store from 4 to 5 p.m. Community members are invited to check out the store for the first time, meet the team and sample some high-quality Lidl products.

Then on Jan. 18, local leaders will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:40 a.m.

At the ceremony, customers will be able to take advantage of "get-them-while-you-can" grand opening special offers. For example, the first 100 customers in line before the ribbon cutting will receive a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each.

Shoppers can also enter to win a $500 Lidl gift card, sample Lidl’s award-winning assortment and take advantage of special giveaways.

The supermarket will also give back to the community, and will donate $1 to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, for every new my Lidl member who signs up and sets Lidl Deer Park as their home store from Jan. 18 to Jan. 22.

"Suffolk County has seen great success with Lidl's entry over the last two years,” said Suffolk County Chief Deputy Commissioner Christopher Gonzalez. “The company is investing over ten million dollars in the Deer Park store alone, providing good jobs with benefits to their team members. We are happy to welcome Lidl once again and congratulate them on this important opening."

The supermarket said it will create more than 50 jobs with the new store, and starting pay for all associates will be $17.50 per hour, including comprehensive benefits.

Lidl offers healthcare for all full-and-part-time positions, regardless of hours worked per week.

"The new Deer Park Lidl store is a tremendous asset for Long Islanders,” said Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy. “Lidl has a proven track record of providing great grocery at low prices and offering their employees strong compensation and benefits. I have seen firsthand how Lidl's presence in Suffolk County has given a choice that didn't exist prior."

The Deer Park store will also offer unique features, unlike other locations on Long Island, a release said.

The 22nd Long Island store will be Lidl's largest store in the region, as it invested more than $12 million into the store, a release said. It Lidl’s first ground-up build on Long Island.

It is also Lidl’s first store in New York to use CO2 natural refrigerant, a environmentally friendly refrigerant.

·Electric Vehicle charging stations have also been installed for customer and employee use.

“We commend Lidl for investing in the latest clean, efficient technology while building this state-of-the-art store,” said PSEG Long Island’s Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Michael Voltz. “The installed electric vehicle chargers will support their customers who choose to drive electric vehicles, and the efficient refrigeration equipment will save Lidl money and energy while helping the environment.”

Lidl announced it would open a Deer Park location in April 2022.
