Monday's Events: What's Happening Locally

Libraries in Deer Park and North Babylon are busy with activities as the new week begins.

After a beautiful sun-drenched weekend, Monday is upon us.

The week in Deer Park and North Babylon starts with a few events happening in both communities.

Adult Game Day returns to the with the fun set to begin at 1 p.m. The library provides the space, tables and chairs. All patrons have to do is bring their friends and a board game or cards. Coffee and tea will be served.

Also at the library, students can make a Bow-Tie Bunny Cake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The class is designed for students Kindergarten through grade 5, and parents are required to stay for those in Kindergarten through grade 2. Participants will decorate a black and white cookie cake bunny with frosting and candles to celebrate spring.

At the , a Book Discussion will be held beginning at 7 p.m. Monday’s discussion will focus on Alan Bradley’s “The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie,” the story of 11-year old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. Favia’s adventure begins when a dead bird is found on the doorstep of her family’s mansion in the summer of 1950.

Also at the library, Conversational English with Anna will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is an informal group design to help local residents practice English conversation. No registration required.
