N. Babylon HS Prom Rescheduled

District moves prom a day earlier due to higher than expected turnout.

The North Babylon School District has rescheduled the June 20 high school prom to June 19 at the same venue due to a larger than expected crowd planning to attend.

The district announced the prom, to be held at the Jericho Terrace in Mineola, would have to be moved to Wed., June 19 from its original date of Thurs., June 20.

"We understand that this announcement will result in the need to alter plans that are currently in place such as salon appointments, tuxedo pick-up and floral arrangements," the district announced via their Facebook. "Additionally, we have contacted the Long Island Limousine Association who indicated that families should contact their respective limousine companies to change reservation dates as soon as possible."

In addition to the changed prom date, the district announced a new time for graduation practice. The practice is now scheduled for at 8 a.m. in the West Gymnasium.

"Sincere apologies are extended to all families/students who may be inconvenienced by this change," said Superintendent Patricia Godek. "It is my hope that the students will now enjoy the event alongside all their classmates as they close out their final year of high school."
