N. Babylon Students Commemorate Earth Day
Suffolk Legis. Horsley visits Vedder; high school artist's work featured at The Heckscher Museum
Earth Day Celebration
To commemorate Earth Day, Suffolk County Legis. Wayne Horsley visited with students and faculty at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School in North Babylon to present each first grader with a sapling to be planted at their homes with their parents.
During Horsley’s visit, the each student pledged to “plant, water and protect” their new tree throughout the year so that it will be their “friend” for life. All first graders throughout the school district also received saplings.

Artist on Display
North Babylon High School sophomore Christie C.’s glass artwork, inspired by a photo from The Heckscher Museum entitled “Night Owls,” has been chosen for the highly selective juried exhibition at The Heckscher Museum of Art.

The “Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum” art exhibit features work by art students in grades nine through 12 from public and private schools throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Out of more than 300 student entries, only 81 pieces were selected for display.
Bonnet Day
Kindergarten students at North Babylon’s William E. DeLuca Elementary School recently showcased their creativity and celebrated spring by participating in their annual Bonnet Day. Wearing their creations proudly, the students marched through the school building to show off their hats to fellow classmates and staff members.
