North Babylon BOE To Host Community Forum For Superintendent Search

The board will take community input in hiring the next superintendent.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — The North Babylon Union Free School District is looking for community input taking to hire the next superintendent of schools.

North Babylon residents are invited to attend a community forum on Monday, Nov. 9 to give feedback for a profile creation for the position.

The board of education has engaged with district wise search consultants, who will lead the forum.

"Community input will be invaluable to create a profile for the next leader of the North Babylon UFSD," the board wrote in a news release.

Dr. Laurence Aronstein, interim superintendent, will be in district until February 2023.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Marion G. Vedder Elementary School, located at 794 Deer Pk Ave in North Babylon.

All information gathered will be included anonymously in a report that will be prepared forthe board of education, the district said.

For those who are unable to attend in person, a Zoom link is available on the district website.

Those who prefer to provide their suggestions privately, or for those who cannot attend in person, can send their opinions to a confidential email address, created by the consultants: NBSupsearch@districtwisesearch.com.

Emails received by Nov. 28 will be included in the consultant’s report. Emails received after this date will be forwarded to the board of education, but will remain anonymous, the district said.

A survey has also been created and posted to the district website to gather feedback from community residents to gather opinions on the importance of various characteristics found in effective superintendents.
