North Babylon School Budget Approved
Above the tax cap spending plan receives 64 percent of the vote; busing referendum also approved.

North Babylon School District residents approved the proposed 2012-13 school budget, despite the fact the spending plan was above the state mandated tax levy cap.
Requiring a 60 percent super-majority, residents approved the $107.1 million budget 1,569-883, or 64 percent of the vote. With a tax levy increase of 2.65 percent, the average property tax bill will increase by $179.75 as a result of the budget’s passage.
In addition, North Babylon residents also voted 1,522-903 to approve the transportation referendum that allows the school district to replace 13 vehicles in its bus fleet. The total cost of the vehicles is $937,530, payable in five annual installments of $187,506.

Also, incumbent board of education trustees Audrey Jacullo and Salvatore Levanti ran unopposed and were re-elected.
