NORTH BABYLON, NY — Mary Susan Noll, a teacher North Babylon High School, was awarded the Long Island STEM Education Leadership Association (LISTEMELA) Star Award on May 3, the school district announced.

The STEM Star Teaching Award was created to honor teachers who demonstrate exemplary commitment to the vision of the Long Island Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education Leadership Association, which includes equitable student access to high quality learning experiences, the school district said.

According to LISTEMELA, the organization aims to continue the improvement of science education through leadership on Long Island. It also provides leadership and pertinent information in the fields of science education and science supervision by conducting public meetings, conferences and workshops, it said on its website. LISTEMELA also assists members in presenting "items of concern" to the appropriate local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
