Olympian Figure Skater To Attend Wyandanch Rink Opening
The event will offer free skating sessions and lessons.
WYANDANCH, NY — Winter is officially coming back to Wyandanch — with a special celebrity guest.
The Plaza at Wyandanch will open its annual ice skating rink, The Rinx, on Saturday in a "Family Winter Wonderland" celebration at 40 Station Drive.
The event will last from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will feature free skate sessions and lessons. Caroling event Parranda Navideña, who sing in both Spanish and English, will also perform at 2:30 p.m.

Guests can also meet and take a picture with Santa Claus.
Professional figure skater Tai Babilonia, who competed for the United States in the 1980 Winter Olympics, will also attend the opening.

Babilonia, along with her skating partner Randy Gardener, became a five-time U.S. national champion and won the gold medal at the 1979 World Championships.
