Pedestrian Hit By Car And Hospitalized On Long Island: Police

A pedestrian was hospitalized after getting hit by a car and seriously injured in Deer Park on Thursday evening, Suffolk County police say.

DEER PARK, NY — A pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured in Deer Park on Thursday, according to Suffolk County police.

Daniel Martinez, 49, of North Babylon, was driving a 2022 Hyundai Elantra southbound on Commack Road near Marcus Boulevard when the vehicle struck a man who was in the roadway around 6:10 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, police said. Martinez was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
