Slane Named East Coast Conference Player of the Week

The North Babylon influence on the LIU Post men’s lacrosse team continues to grow.

Freshman Ryan Slane was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week as he helped lead the Pioneers to a big win over Dominican College this past Saturday. The North Babylon High School graduate scored five goals as the Pioneers defeated Dominican 18-1.

Slane, who was a four-year varsity player for North Babylon, is enjoying a strong start to his collegiate lacrosse career. On the season, his 20 goals and 24 total points makes him the second leading scorer for LIU Post, which is ranked fifth nationally in Division II by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Recently, Slane’s teammate Matty Beccaris was named LIU Post’s Athlete of the Week. Also a North Babylon High School graduate, Beccaris leads the Pioneers with 27 goals and 35 total points.
