Suffolk Mother Found Dead With Stab Wounds; Son Arrested: Police

DEER PARK, NY — A Deer Park mother was killed by her son inside her home Wednesday morning, Suffolk police told Patch.

Officers were called for a domestic dispute around 7 a.m. Wednesday on the first floor of a two-family home on West 23rd Street, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said.

When police arrived, they found Gabriel Cabral-Cardona, 33, of Brooklyn, standing outside by the side of the house covered in blood, police said.

Officers found Cabral's mother, Olga Cardona-Hernandez, 54, with multiple stab wounds and her face covered in blood, police said.

Cabral had traveled from Brooklyn to visit his mother on Tuesday evening, Harrison said.

He was taken into police custody and charged with second-degree murder, police said.

He was also taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the incident, police said.
