Wednesday's Events: What's Happening Locally

Therapy dogs visit the Deer Park Library while North Babylon students prepare for the SATs.

Welcome to Wednesday.

Patch has highlighted several things happening in and around the Deer Park/North Babylon area.

If you see a pack of dogs gathering at the , don’t fret, it’s just the pooches from Therapy Dogs International (TDI). They’ll be hanging with local students at the library from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Youngsters attending the class must be able to read independently.

For those that don’t know, TDI is a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers. They visit a variety of institutions including nursing homes, hospital and libraries.

Students in North Babylon looking to sharpen their test taking skills may do so at the SAT Review Course that runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The seminar is designed to help students succeed on the SAT. The $85 fee is payable to the Cultural Programming Fund.

Among the events on the North Babylon School District calendar today is the 8th Grade Spring Concert at Robert Moses Middle School. The performance starts at 7 p.m. Also, the William E. DeLuca Jr. Elementary School PTA meets this evening at 7:30 p.m.

Up the road a bit in Dix Hills, the will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dean Karahalis will conduct the performance and the Five Towns chorus will be lead by Jeffery Lipton. Tickets are $10.
