Fashion shows in North Babylon and Deer Park set to delight local residents.

Happy Friday. The weekend is upon us and with some warm, springtime weather in the forecast, local residents will be out and about.
As always, there are a host of events happening in Deer Park and North Babylon to keep everyone busy. Check our events page for a complete listing.
For those looking to start the weekend with a movie, the is presenting “Joyful Noise” on Friday at 1 p.m. Starring Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, the movie focuses on the small town of Pacashau, Ga., which has fallen on hard times. To lift the spirits of local residents’ the Divinity Church Choir is hoping to win the National Joyful Noise competition. The movie is rated PG-13.

Over at , the 3rd Annual Fashion Show is set for Friday night at 7 p.m. The event, a fundraiser benefitting Habitat for Humanity, will be emceed by teacher Alyssa Imhof with a special performance by Al Calderon, providing detailed descriptions of the models’ outfits. DJ Krompier will provide the soundtrack for the evening’s festivities.
On Saturday, the North Babylon High School Renaissance Festival will take place beginning at 12:30 p.m. The event will include children’s crafts, games, music and entertainment for the whole family. Meet the queen and her royal court and enjoy a variety of food including the famous turkey legs. Admission is $6.

Also on Saturday, actress will be at at 4 p.m. The host of “Wipeout” will showcase the latest trends and talk about the newest looks coming this summer. In addition to giveaways, attendees will have the chance to win Lachey’s style picks.
