1. James Vincent, 40, was convicted on Thursday of an attack against a Jewish man in East Flatbush in 2018. He faces up to 15 years in jail. District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said this ruling "speaks to Brooklyn's resolve to combatting and rooting out hate from our communities." (NYC Patch)
2. Due to an ongoing protest over vaccine mandates by sanitation and other city workers, the trash is pilling up on Brooklyn and Staten Island streets. According to this article, which uses pictures from Flatbush, the piles of trash bags are reminiscent of the 70s. (Daily Mail)
3. New York State Attorney General and former NYC Public Advocate Leticia James is on the verge of announcing her candidacy for governor, to try to become the first Black woman elected in that office. She's gotten support from Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte, who represents Flatbush and Ditmas Park. (Gothamist)
