Brooklyn South CERT Vies for Grant

The group is competing for one of the many grants Chase is giving out to 196 charities.

 

Brooklyn South Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has a chance to receive some much-needed funds for its operation, and you can help. 

The local CERT, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is vying for a grant from Chase Community Giving, a program that allows voters to select charities to receive grants from Chase by voting for the charity of their choice.

Chase will donate $5M to the 196 charities that receive the most votes by Sept. 19, including $250,000 to the charity receiving the most votes; $100,000 to the next 10 runner's-up charities; $50,000 to the next 35 runner's-up charities; $20,000 to the next 50 runner's-up charities; and $10,000 to the next 100 runner's-up charities.

Interested parties can vote through Chase's website by those who have a Chase online account, or by Facebook users after they like the program's Facebook page. The National Program grant recipients will be announced on or about Sept. 20. 

The Brooklyn South CERT consists of members of the community dedicated to educating fellow Ditmas Park residents on disaster preparedness. Members of the group can often be found at large community gatherings teaching attendees ways to be best prepared in case of a disaster.
