Here are the top stories today in Ditmas Park-Flatbush:
- East Flatbush streets saw heavy flooding and trashed piled up by drains on Tuesday, as a Nor'easter passed through the city. (News 12 Brooklyn)
- Pardeep Singh, the first South Asian contestant on The Bachelorette to receive a "rose," is a New Yorker who started an emergency COVID-19 testing lab in Flatbush in under six weeks during the early days of the pandemic. (Elite Daily)
- Politicians were arrested on Monday at a protest for NYC taxi drivers, who are demanding medallion debt relief from the city. One taxi driver, Dorothy Leconte, from East Flatbush, said he owes $591,000 in debt. Many drivers are participating in a hunger strike. (New York Daily News)
- A new affordable housing complex in Brownsville is taking shape, thanks to the work of the Church of God of East Flatbush. The new Ebenezer Plaza development will have 315 so-called affordable units, at between $367 and $1,472 per month. (Brownstoner)
