If you're looking for something casual to do, Sycamore will be open and hosting a BBQ throughout the afternoon. The set-up will be very casual, but promises to be a great time .

Bring the kids to the Lefferts Historic House from 1-4 p.m. to celebrate America's birthday and . Look extra patriotic as you make yourself a plumed hat to wear while signing your own "John Hancock" on a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence. Meet at Lefferts Historic House located at Lincoln Rd & Ocean Ave.


The bald eagle has been our national bird since 1782 and is one of America's most recognizable icons. From 1-3 p.m., learn more about the role the eagle's image as has played in shaping our nation’s identity through a panel exhibit and fun nature craft at the Audubon Center located at Lincoln Rd & Ocean Ave.

Coney Island Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is held every year at 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., only a short train ride away. A $20,000 prize is granted to the winner of the challenge, so it's a feat worth watching. And while you're down there, hop on the Cyclone or the Wonder Wheel, take a walk down the Boardwalk and play some games.

If you're feeling ambitious, take a trip into Manhattan for Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. Barges will be positioned between 24 and 59 Streets on the Hudson River and the fireworks start at 9:20 p.m. The Fireworks can be viewed from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the Hudson River. For the best views, head to 12 Avenue below 59 Street at the following access points along 11 Avenue: 24 Street, 26-30 Streets, 34 Street, 40-44 Streets, 47-52 Streets, 54-57 Streets.
