Jacobs Tops Bichotte in 42nd AD Democratic Primary

The incumbent claimed victory in New York's 42nd Assembly District, including Ditmas Park.

 

Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs, D-Ditmas Park, claimed victory in New York's 42nd Assembly District Democratic Primary Thursday night, moving on to the general election and significantly beating her opponent, Rodneyse Bichotte. 

Jacobs won with 73.4 percent of the vote, besting Bichotte who claimed only 26.6 percent, according to the New York Times.

Though the numbers did not reflect it, , as Bichotte fought her hardest to unseat Jacobs, who has represented the 42nd District since 1979.

"There are limitations to experience, but experience matters," . "It takes a while before you know anything, and seniority helps."

"You do right by these people and community and they remain loyal," Jacobs said.

In the 44th Assembly District, Assemblyman James Brennan won the Democratic and Working Families Party primaries unopposed.
