- The city acquired space for a new school at 1070 Flatbush Avenue, which would fill the needs of the universal pre-K program. Officials would like it to be open for the start of the 2022 school year. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
- Today, January 6th, marks the one year anniversary of the right-wing Capitol insurrection. To mark the day Brooklyn politicians and civil rights leaders are holding a "Defend Democracy" rally in Grand Army Plaza at 12 p.m. (NYC Patch)
- At her "State of the State" address Wednesday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced she's resurrecting plans to convert an abandoned freight train line between The Bronx and Brooklyn into public transit. The new train would include a stop at Brooklyn College, connecting Flatbush with Sunset Park to the west and the northern Bronx to the north. (Gothamist)
