Newkirk Cares to Hold Last Greening Day of Season

The group will clean out tree pits, plant flower bulbs and build tree guards.

 

For residents looking to develop a green thumb, this is the weekend to do so!

Newkirk Cares Collaborative, a community intiative to improve the Newkirk Ave. corridor, is holding its final greening day of the season this Sat., Sept. 22.

The group plans to clean out tree pits along Newkirk and Coney Island Avenues, build three tree guards as well as plant daffodil and tulip bulbs for next Spring.

The group will meet at Newkirk Plaza outside the Metro PCS storefront at 10 a.m.

Also, as we previously reported, fellow green community group Campus Road Trees is looking for volunteers to help build tree guards Fri., Sept. 21 from 12-4 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
