Sept. 13 Assembly Primary: Which District Are You In?

Ditmas Park is represented in two districts; do you know who you're able to vote for?

 

Like the rest of the neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Ditmas Park is divided into multiple districts, each with its own representatives vying for residents' votes on election day. 

Before heading to their polling site to cast their vote, Ditmas Parkers should confirm which district they reside in.

The 42nd District is marked by Parkside Ave. to the North; Flatbush, Bedford and Nostrand Avenues to the East and Avenue L to the South. The West border is extremely jagged, stretching into parts of Coney Island Ave., East 10 St., East 16 St., Marlborough Rd., East 17 St. and East 19 St. 

Running in the Democratic primary is Incumbent Rhoda Jacobs, who first assumed office in 1979, and Rodneyse Bichotte, who serves as District Leader. The two have been campaigning hard for the election, reaching out to potential voters through as many outlets as possible, .

No candidates filed for the GOP primary in the 42nd District. 

The 44th District is marked by Church Avenue, part of Stratford Rd. and Caton Ave. from Coney Island Ave. to East 10 St. to the North; East 16 St., parts of Marlborough Rd., East 15 St., East 17 St. and East 19 St. to the East; parts of Ave. H and Ave. and Ave. J to the South; and Coney Island and McDonald Avenues to the West. 

Assemblyman James Brennan, who first assumed office in 1985, is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he is also running on the Working Families Party ticket. 

Catherine Fox is running unopposed in the GOP primary. In addition to running on the Republican ticket, Fox is also running on the Conservative Party ticket.
