Teen Pointed BB Gun at Driver in Southern State Road Rage: Cops

An 18-year-old faces charges after the incident Thursday afternoon, State Police say.

An 18-year-old man pointed a BB gun at a fellow driver on the Southern State Parkway Thursday afternoon, police said.

State Police were dispatched on a report of a road rage and menacing incident on the westbound Southern State Parkway in Farmingdale at 12:40 p.m.

An investigation determined that 18-year-old Nicholas V. Hollifield was driving a blue 2016 Chrysler 200 when he pointed a black BB gun at another driver, police said. Hollifield, of East Islip, was located by Nassau Police on Carlisle Road in Wantagh.

Hollifield told troopers that the other driver had been tailgating him, police said.

Hollifield was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon and second degree menacing. He will be held in jail overnight and arraigned on Saturday.
