The robber shoved the woman to the floor of the train after grabbing her purse, according to police.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A 75-year-old woman was robbed on a subway train Thursday afternoon after another woman grabbed her purse and then shoved her to the floor, police said.

The woman was riding a southbound 6 train that had just departed the 14th Street/Union Square station when another woman took her purse from the floor of the train and tried to run away, police said in a statement. When the woman tried to stop the robber, she pushed her to the floor of the train before fleeing, according to authorities. The purse contained the woman's cell phone, bank cards and about $100 in cash, police said.

The NYPD is asking for the public's help in identifying the robber and released photos and surveillance video of her on Sunday night. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, blue jeans and white sneakers, police said.
